Micro Silica

Micro Silica is a mineral and a mixture composed of very fine solid glassy spheres of silicon dioxide.

Micro Silica is also known as Silica fumes. It is an ultra-fine product collected by the byproduct of Silicon and Ferrosilicon alloys production and consists of spherical particles with an average particle less than 1 micron (0.00004 inches) in diameter, generally 50-100 times finer than average cement or fly-ash particles. The main field of application is a pozzolanic national for high-performance concrete.

Advantages

  • Higher compressive strength by 10-20 %
  • Reduces the rate of carbonation
  • Lower permeability - Resistance to penetration of water, chloride & other chemicals
  • Lower free lime formation - Delays Ettringite and Thaumasite formation
  • Controls bleeding in fresh concrete
  • Lower Heat of Hydration, which prevents formation of cracks.

Properties

  • Appearance - Very fine powder
  • Colour - Grey
  • Odour - Odourless
  • Mean particle size - 25 microns
  • SiO2 – Silica 90 % minimum
  • Humidity - 2 % maximum

How it works

Pozzolanic Effect:

It increases the performance of concrete & mortar formations. Therefore, it improves durability and enables lengthening the service life of structures. It acts physically to optimise particle packing of concrete or mortar mixture and chemically as a high reactive pozzolan.

Micro Filler Effect

It is an extremely fine material, with an average diameter much finer than the cement. It gets well distributed in the cementatious paste, thus blocking the bleed-water channels.

Packaging

Available in 25 Kg Plastic bag or Jumbo Bag (1000 Kg)

Quality

Micro Silica is a super pozzolan - a finely powdered material which when added to cementitious matter, this results in a fine, uniform mix that has a higher compressive, flexural, and bond strength.his results in a fine, uniform mix that has a higher compressive, flexural, and bond strength. It complies with ASTM C1240.
